Artist's Description

A view of Shipman's Point on West Meadow Beach featuring the historic Gamecock Cottage circa 1870s. The view is from Sand Street Beach in Stony Brook, NY. Here West Meadow, Creek empties into Stony Brook Harbor and eventually into Smithtown Bay and Long Island Sound. In the late 1800s and early 1900s this was an important ship building area for small ships.
