Description
The Artemis I Moon rocket at Florida's Kennedy Space Center launch complex 39B captured in the hour before dawn. Artemis is also known as the Space Launch System. It is currently the most powerful rocket in the world.
It will carry the Orion Capsule, which will orbit the moon about 43,000 miles above the lunar surface. On its way to the moon the mission will deploy 10 small research satellites called CubeSats. The Orion is made for human flight but on this flight it will carry 3 mannequins which will help study the effects of spaceflight radiation.
The Space Launch System is 322 feet tall and weighs about 6 million pounds. It can launch about 30 tons of payload.
