This is a statue of Florence Martus, the "waving girl" of Savannah, waving to ships with her kerchief. Her dog and a lantern are at her side. Florence greeted ships from her home on nearby Elba Island from the years between 1887 and 1931. The statue is on River Street. The statue was made by Felix de Weldon.
Bradford Martin is a nature and travel photographer with an emphasis on maritime and wildlife images. His artistic editorial images are inspired by the photographers of National Geographic and other nature and travel magazines. With a strong graphic style, the photos grab attention and make a connection to the subject as well as inform and inspire.
