Lovely work. I've always thought that the Live Oaks of the south have a mysterious and graceful quality to them. Check out my "The Legend of the Cora Tree" if you like. It is in NC's OBX.

Artist's Description

This is the famous Angel Oak of Johns Island near Charleston, South Carolina. I visited it in August 2020. I arrived early in the morning just after a rain. After a rain the resurrection ferns that adorn the branches come to life. There were few visitors so I was able to get a nice view with no distracting people or pets. The oak has many signs instructing people not to climb or otherwise harm the tree. It also is cordoned off. I removed these distractions digitally to make a photo more suitable to display.

The Angel oak was named after the early owners of the property whose last name was Angel. It is a befitting name for the tree with limbs spreading like wings. It has survived many Atlantic hurricanes including the devastating Hurricane Hugo. It is a symbol of strength, endurance and faith.

Brad left the ocean and bays of Eastern Long Island to spend more time photographing the abundant birds and wildlife of Florida. With a biology degree and training as a marine biologist he took a job that had him on ships from Texas to New England. He lives near Cape Canaveral and likes to watch the rocket launches there and photograph the many ships that come and go. His photos grace the...
