The sun pops up through the clouds in the morning at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. A cabbage palm towers over the mangroves. A small mangrove tree is reflected in a pond along with the sky. The sky is orange, reminiscent of a drink called Tequila Sunrise, made with orange juice, and a song by the same name. Just behind and under the sun is a big wide old pine tree. The bald eagles nest in such pines and use them to survey the land around in search of waterfowl, fish and other animals it preys upon.
Bradford Martin is a nature and travel photographer with an emphasis on maritime and wildlife images. His artistic editorial images are inspired by the photographers of National Geographic and other nature and travel magazines. With a strong graphic style, the photos grab attention and make a connection to the subject as well as inform and inspire. Brad left the ocean and bays of Eastern Long Island to spend more time photographing the abundant birds and wildlife of Florida. With a biology degree and training as a marine biologist he took a job that had him on ships from Texas to New England.
