Description
A Snowy Egret in full courtship plumage fluffs up. It was a bit windy too. This makes me think of Marilyn Monroe with her dress blown up. The fleshy red area at the base of the bill and around the eyes is called the lores. Normally these are yellow as well as the feet. At courtship time many individuals get a pink or red color in those fleshy areas. The feet look more orange here than yellow. This was taken at a park in Florida where there is a rookery.
