A Bald Eagle rests on a pine branch above the nest. A closer look at the hollow belly shows it is a female. She had been incubating the eggs and then popped up on the nest. Taken from a dirt road with a supertelephoto lens so as not to disturb the nesting activity.

Bradford Martin is a nature and travel photographer with an emphasis on maritime and wildlife images. His artistic editorial images are inspired by the photographers of National Geographic and other nature and travel magazines.
